CGS to hold Bay of Bengal Talks next year
07 November 2021Dhaka-based research organisation Centre for Governance Studies announced on Saturday that it would hold international talks titled ‘Bay of Bengal Conversation’ in the capital next year.
The three-day talks will be held on May 28-30, said the organisation at a press release, which added that the talks would be held annually henceforth.
The main objective of the initiative is to understand the rapidly evolving situation in the Bay of Bengal, which is now at the centre of world attention, said the press release.
About the event, Zillur Rahman, the executive director at CGS and chair of Bay of Bengal Conservation, said they wanted to create an effective global platform from Dhaka.
Chairman of CGS Manzoor Ahmed Chowdhury hoped such initiative would create a scope for wide range of discussion and debate over the issue.
Some 600 participants, including 200 researchers, teachers, writers, journalists, politicians from 70 countries are expected to join the talks, said the CGS.
