Extrajudicial Killings: ‘Dysfunctional Democracy and Questionable Rule of Law’

Extrajudicial killing is a form of arbitrary or unlawful deprivation of life that constitutes a serious breach of human rights. Over the last decade, this has been a frequent occurrence in Bangladesh. Just in between January 2019 and December 2021, 677 persons were reportedly killed extra-judicially. In order to highlight this issue, the Center for Governance Studies is organizing a webinar, titled ‘Extrajudicial Killings: ‘Dysfunctional Democracy and Questionable Rule of Law’ on next Wednesday 23th February 2022 at 10.00 A.M.

Mr. Shajahan Khan MP, Former Minister of Shipping of Bangladesh, Mr. Zahir Uddin Swapan, Former MP, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Dr. Reza Kibria, Convener, Bangladesh Gono Odhikar Parishad,, Professor Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Former Chairman, National Human Rights Commission, Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Chairman, JATIYA NIRBACHAN PARJABEKKHAN PARISHAD (JANIPOP), Mr. Md. Nur Khan, Secretary General, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) and others will join us in the webinar as discussants.  

The program will be presided over by Dr. Manjur Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of Centre for Governance Studies and conducted by CGS Executive Director Zillur Rahman.
