Tanyel Bedia Taysi is a political scientist and development professional with twenty years of international experience in democracy, human rights and governance, access to justice, gender, equity and social inclusion, civil society strengthening, security sector reform, community engagement, stabilization, organizational capacity strengthening, and teaching and research, specializing in fragile and conflict affected states. Currently based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Tanyel has held senior level management and advisory roles working in and on Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Libya, Liberia, Morocco and Turkey for NGOs, academic institutions, and donor funded programs. She has a PhD and MA in Political Science, with a focus on Comparative and International Politics and Gender, Justice and Politics, and a BA in Anthropology. She holds a special interest in the governance and politics of Bangladesh, having spent two and a half years in Bangladesh working with actors committed to strengthening democracy from 2023 to 2025.
