Webinar on "What’s Happening? Trends and Patterns of the use of the Digital Security Act 2018 in Bangladesh"

As you know, The Digital Security Act (DSA), which was passed in 2018 to give citizens cyber security, is being used for more sinister ends due to its broad scope and ambiguous provisions. Understanding the terrible outcome of this violent practice, the Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) has been conducting research to track down and analyze the cases under this act. In order to highlight the findings of the study from October 2018 to August 2022, the Centre for Governance Studies is organizing a webinar, titled “What’s Happening? Trends and Patterns of the use of the Digital Security Act 2018 in Bangladesh"; on Tomorrow Saturday 14th January, 2023 at 11.00 A.M. The presentation will be given by the Principle Investigator of the research, Professor Dr. Ali Riaz who is a distinguished Professor of political science at Illinois State University, USA and a member of the advisory board of the Centre for Governance Studies.
Advocate Alena Khan, Chairperson and CEO, Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation (BHRF), Syed Ishtiaque Reza, Editor in Chief, Global TV, Masood Kamal, Head of News at Bangla Tribune and Md. Saimum Reza Talukder, Senior Lecturer, School of Law, BRAC University, Bangladesh, will join the webinar as the discussants.
The program will be presided over by Dr. Manjur Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of the Centre for Governance Studies and conducted by CGS Executive Director Zillur Rahman.
