Asif Bin Ali
Non-resident Research Fellow (Honorary)
Asif Bin Ali is a documentary maker and journalist turned academic, currently pursuing his PhD at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA. Previously, he served as a faculty member at North South University (NSU), Dhaka, where he was one of the founding members of the Media, Communication, and Journalism program. As an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship recipient from the European Union, Asif holds an MA in Journalism, Media, and Globalization, a degree jointly awarded by Swansea University (UK), Aarhus University, and the Danish School of Media and Journalism (Denmark).
Asif has edited two books and authored six journal articles and book chapters. He is also a regular columnist, having published over fifty opinion pieces and twenty interviews in newspapers like The Daily Star, Prothom Alo and The Daily Observer.
In celebration of Bangladesh's 50 years of independence, invited by prestigious publication house Palgrave Macmillan, Asif co-edited the book The Emergence of Bangladesh in 2022. His documentary The Concert for Bangladesh: Music to Introduce Bangladesh to the World was released in 2022. He also served as a member editor of the international public sociology journal Global Dialogue from 2019 to 2021.
