US-China trade rivalry to be a boon for Bangladesh
The trade rivalry between Washington and Beijing could be a boon for Bangladesh as many factories in China could relocate to the South Asian country, said a Japanese expert.
"About the US and China rivalry, we should not forget the fact that the crisis can be an opportunity," said Satoru Nagao, a fellow at Hudson Institute.
If countries close to the US want to relocate their factories from China, they need a new destination, he said.
Nagao was speaking at a session of a three-day event titled "Bay of Bengal Conversation" organised by the Centre for Governance Studies at the capital's Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Monday.
"Recently, the US is putting emphasis on 'friend-shoring', which means the US side reestablishes their supply chain in the friendly countries. That can be a chance for Bangladesh," he added.
